Dubbak by-poll: Covid patients to be allowed to vote after 5pm

Speaking at the EVM distribution point at Latchapet near Dubbak town on Monday, the Collector said that they have provided thermal screening devices at all the polling booths to help the staff to check the temperature of election staff, agents and voters.

Speaking at the EVM distribution point at Latchapet near Dubbak town on Monday, the Collector said that they have provided thermal screening devices at all the polling booths to help the staff to check the temperature of election staff, agents and voters. 

Siddipet: The District Collector and District Election Officer Bharathi Hollikeri said that the voters, who were suffering from fever, will only allowed to exercise their franchise after 5 pm, in view of Covid-19 situation. Saying that some of the Covid-19 positive patients have opted for postal ballot vote, she said that the Covid-19 positive patients, who did not opt for postal ballot, can visit the polling stations after 5 pm to vote. The District Election Officer said that they will take all due care while they are casting their vote at polling booth.

Speaking at the EVM distribution point at Latchapet near Dubbak town on Monday, the Collector said that they have provided thermal screening devices at all the polling booths to help the staff to check the temperature of election staff, agents and voters.

Saying that the election staff, agents and voters must follow the election guidelines and also Covid-19 guidelines, the District Election Officer said that they have also provided gloves to use each and every voter a glove to avoid the contact of EVM machine and restrict the spread of the Covid-19.

Saying that everyone must wear mask while walking into polling booths, the Collector said that they have sanitised the polling stations and furniture. She further said that the ANMs, who were assigned to oversee the Covid-19 guidelines at polling stations, they have marked the queue lines to ensure the voters stand in line maintaining physical distances. The District Election Officer said that to record all the activity at polling stations they would do live webcasting.

She said that the Commissioner of Police D Joel Davis deployed all the necessary staff across the constituency ensure the smooth conduction of polling.

Saying that they have provided all minimum facilities, Hollikeri said that they have provided all the needed training to election staff on election guidelines and Covid-19 guidelines. In view of Covid-19 outbreak, the officials have allowed the voters aged over 80 years and Covid-19 patients to opt postal ballot. As many as 1,558 voters have opted for postal ballot in which 1,340 exercised their postal ballot.
