Hyderabad: Featuring two of India’s most promising young dancers, Shreema Upadhyaya from Bangalore and Harinie Jeevitha from Chennai, the DVI Dance Festival 2024 will take center stage on December 7 at CCRT Amphitheatre. This exclusive one-day festival will mark their debut solo performances in Hyderabad.

Curated by Sravya Subramanyam, a renowned Kuchipudi artist and visual designer from Hyderabad, with assistance from a fellow Kuchipudi artist Shresta Pabbati, the festival will have eminent dance gurus, Pavani Sreelatha Prasad, Sandhya Raju and Kala Krishna as chief guests.

Harinie Jeevitha, known for her emotive and intricate choreography, will present her first solo thematic production titled ‘Varadarājam Upāsmahē’, based on the revered Brahmotsavam of the Kancheepuram Varadarajaswamy Temple. The piece explores the divinity of Lord Varadarajaswamy and the grandeur of the temple’s annual festival, highlighting the spiritual fervor and devotion experienced by the devotees during this sacred occasion.

Shreema Upadhyay will perform ‘Devi’, a powerful solo that celebrates the many facets of the Goddess. Conceptualized and choreographed by Guru P Praveen Kumar, ‘Devi’ draws inspiration from the devotional works of two legendary composers, Sri Adi Sankaracharya and Sri Muthuswami Dikshitar.

Sravya has curated the festival to showcase the diversity and depth of Indian classical dance and her vision for DVI is to witness the artistry of the young established artists, share the joy with the rasikas and to promote the culture of ticketed, curated festivals in Hyderabad.
