Hyderabad: Well the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon 2021 is round the corner and like the past three years, Earthlings NGO is all geared up to help keep the marathon premises clean as a Waste Management Partner.
With 250 plus volunteers, the NGO working towards waste management plans to keep a track of the waste disposal by the marathon participants.
“Our volunteers will be scattered managing the 22 Aid Stations that fall on the track starting from Necklace Road to the end of Gachibowli stadium. The volunteers will guide the marathon participants on disposing of waste properly and will also ensure the venue is clean,” Sriram Arumilli, founder of Earthlings NGO shares.
This time, the NGO also hopes that participants carry their own water bottles so there is less use of plastic water bottles at the venue. Moreover, with an aim to make the marathon more sustainable now and in the future, Sriram and his team also plan to encourage eco-friendly food packaging.
For the same, the Earthlings team also plans to conduct a survey on how many people carry their own water bottles or use eco-friendly products at the marathon. “We want to understand if people are just coming for a run for themselves or also bother about the environment equally,” Sriram shares.
The Airtel Hyderabad Marathon is set to be held on December 19. Telugu actor Nani is going to be one among the participants this year.
