Karimnagar: TS Planning Board vice-chairman B Vinod Kumar on Wednesday said Eatala Rajender joined the BJP to protect his illegal properties. “Though Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao gave him several opportunities, Rajender backstabbed the Chief Minister as well as TRS,” he said.

“Basically, Rajender is a business person. Chandrashekhar Rao brought him to Kamalapur and gave him an opportunity to contest on TRS ticket. After enjoying all the power, Rajender hatched a conspiracy against the party and Chandrashekhar Rao with an eye on the Chief Minister’s post,” Vinod Kumar said at an election campaign in Guniparthi of Kamalapur mandal.

Pointing out that Chandrashekhar Rao started the movement for Statehood for Telangana to put an end to bloodshed in the name of encounters and farmers’ suicides in the region, he said Chandrashekhar Rao was the only Chief Minister to implement so many development and welfare schemes in the country. This also led to increase in self-respect of all sections of society,” he said.

Referring to Rajender’s statement that he was unable to adjust in TRS, Vinod Kumar wondered how Rajender continued as Minister for five years if he was not interested in the party. “At no cost should people compromise on their self-respect. Rajender, who used to criticise the anti-people’s policies of the BJP government at the Centre, joined the same party and in the process, compromised his self-respect,” he said.

Terming BJP as anti- SC, ST, and OBCs, he said the union government was trying to abolish the employment opportunities of weaker sections by privatizing BSNL, LIC, Railways and other public sector undertakings.

TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav said unable to serve the people, Rajender joined the BJP after neglecting his constituency. “How can a BJP leader develop the constituency sitting in the opposition,” Srinivas Yadav questioned.

All Ministers in the State have completed double bedroom houses in their respective constituencies. However, Rajender failed to complete a single house. Moreover, he was trying to purchase votes by distributing money.

Why should people vote for BJP, which was taking anti-people and anti-farmers decisions, he asked and promised to develop Huzurabad as a model segment if he was elected.
