Karimnagar: BJP leader and former ZPTC member Arukala Veereshalingam on Thursday said former Minister Eatala Rajender was ready to join BJP only to protect his properties.

Speaking to reporters in Jammikunta, Veereshalingam posed a question to Rajender: “Are you going to join BJP to protect your properties or for the development of the constituency?”

Pointing out that Rajender had earlier asserted that he would always be with the TRS, he said the former Minister was playing the BC card. “Rajender utilised the TRS party to amass huge properties illegally. Now, he wants to join the BJP after getting advice and opinion from all political parties,” he said.

Reacting to Rajender’s comments that he was humiliated by his dismissal from the State Cabinet since he was from BC community, the BJP leader said all the family members of Rajender were from Reddy community. “The former Minister started every election campaign from my home. I strove hard for Rajender’s victory in all the polls. However, the MLA forced me out of the TRS and humiliated me. Now, he is facing a similar kind of pressure,” Veereshalingam said.

He said the former Minister had suppressed a number of party leaders for his selfish gains. “I appeal to the people of Huzurabad not to re-elect Rajender in the next election,” he said.
