Hyderabad: Former Minister Eatala Rajender met BJP national president JP Nadda at his residence in New Delhi on Monday evening, virtually confirming rumours that he was set to join the saffron party soon.
Former MP G Vivek accompanied Rajender and former MLA Enugu Ravinder Reddy to Nadda’s residence. They met Nadda in the presence of BJP Telangana State in-charge Tarun Chugh and State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar. Sanjay, who was in Karimnagar, left for New Delhi in the morning while Eatala and Ravinder Reddy reached the national capital on Sunday night.
During the meeting that lasted for over 45 minutes with Nadda, Rajender is believed to have explained the political scenario in the State apart from discussing the importance to be given for Backward Class communities to strengthen them.
Following instructions from Nadda after the meeting, Chugh, Sanjay, Vivek, Rajender and Ravinder Reddy reportedly met again to discuss the future course of action.
Rajender and Ravinder Reddy will be in Delhi till Tuesday to meet other BJP senior leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is unwell. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy, who was in Hyderabad on Monday, is expected to reach New Delhi on Tuesday and is likely to meet Rajender.
It is not clear whether Rajender will quit the MLA post after returning to the city from New Delhi or continue as MLA. He might take a decision on it after consulting senior leaders and his close confidants in the city and in his constituency.
The date of Eatala joining the BJP would be finalised after he wraps up his Delhi tour.
