Hyderabad: The resignation of former Minister Eatala Rajender from the primary membership of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and from the Assembly was not for self-respect but for self-protection, Women and Child Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod said on Friday.
Interacting with media persons, she said Rajender mortgaged his self-respect with BJP for his own advantage. Condemning Rajender’s remarks against Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao during a media conference, she said he was sacked for resorting to anti-people and anti-party activities.
“When Rajender says that he was facing humiliation for the last five years, why did he quit today instead of fighting for self-respect?” the Minister asked. It was only because of the Chief Minister’s support that Rajender achieved this position, she said.
“Instead of rendering service to people, Rajender took the lands of the poor. It would have been better if he had resigned the day he was sacked from the State Cabinet,” he said.
The Minister said Rajender mortgaged his self-respect to BJP which merged seven mandals in Khammam district with Andhra Pradesh after Telangana State was carved out, creating obstacles in the development of Telangana for the last seven years, the Minister said.
“Rajender has no moral right to make remarks against the Chief Minister,” she said, adding that other States were taking a cue from the leadership of Chandrashekhar Rao.
