ECI extends Telangana SIR deadline, BLO house-to-house visits till August 3
The Election Commission of India has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll in Telangana. House-to-house verification by Booth Level Officers will end on August 3, while the final electoral roll will be published on October 12.
Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll. As per the revised schedule, the house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conclude on August 3.
The draft electoral roll will be published on August 10, and claims and objections can be filed between August 10 and September 9. The notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will be carried out between August 10 and October 8. The final electoral roll will be published on October 12.
Meanwhile, with less than three weeks left for the house-to-house enumeration drive to conclude in Telangana, 45.16 per cent enumeration forms are yet to be submitted by the voters back to the Booth Level Officers (BLOs). This is raising concerns over whether the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will be completed on time.
While the distribution of enumeration forms stood at 99.99 per cent in the State, 54.84 per cent electors submitted their forms, which were digitised, as of Wednesday.
According to statistics released by the Chief Electoral Officer Telangana, only 24.09 per cent of Medchal-Malkajgiri voters returned their forms to BLOs and the same were digitised. This was the lowest among all districts in the State.
While all 47,36,669 Hyderabad voters have been handed over their enumeration forms, only 27.29 per cent filled up their forms and returned them to their respective BLOs. Similar trend was observed in Rangareddy district, where 38.10 per cent out of 29,76,920 voters submitted their forms that were digitised.
At 83.34 per cent, Yadadri Bhongir registered the highest percentage of voters submitting forms that were digitised, followed by Siddipet and Nalgonda districts where form submissions and digitisation stood at 77.35 and 77.30 per cent respectively.
