Hyderabad: Taking serious note of the remarks made by the BJP MLA T Raja Singh on Tuesday on UP elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) slapped a show cause notice on him seeking an explanation from him within 24 hours.
“The Commission is prima facie of the opinion that Raja Singh has violated the provisions of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and Representation of People Act-1951 by making the statement. You are called upon to show cause within 24 hours from receipt of the notice as to why appropriate penal action under criminal law should not be initiated and as to why appropriate action for violation of MCC should not be taken,” ECI Secretary Ajoy Kumar said.
In a short video released on Tuesday, Singh said: “I want to make it clear to those traitors who don’t want Yogi to become the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. Yogi will identify them after the elections and they must know what bulldozers are used for. They must chant Yogi… Yogi… or else they will have to run from Uttar Pradesh.”
