Huzurabad: The Election Commission of India on Monday transferred Jammikunta Circle Inspector Ramchander Rao following complaints lodged by opposition parties against him in the run-up to the by-election to Huzurabad Assembly constituency on October 30. Based on the EC’s instructions, the top brass transferred the CI and attached him with Deputy Inspector General of Police, Warangal range. Karimnagar traffic CI Gurram Thirumal was appointed as Jammikunta CI.
Opposition parties wrote to the EC alleging that Ramchander Rao, who took charge as Jammikunta CI five months ago, was being partisan. Based on their complaints, the EC instructed the State Police to shift him from Jammikunta. Earlier, the EC, following complaints from the BJP, had suspended the implementation of Telangana Dalit Bandhu in the constituency till the bypoll process is completed. It also prohibited political and election meetings in districts adjoining the constituency.
