Eco-tourism hub planned in Nizamabad

Nizamabad: Telangana Forest Department has decided to set up ‘Eco-Tourism Hub’ and ‘Community Forest Reserve’ at SRSP backwaters to develop tourism and protect wildlife and migratory birds. Telangana Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) R Shobha recently visited the SRSP backwaters at Gangadda Nadukuda village of Nandipet mandal in Nizamabad district. On the occasion, she said that SRSP backwaters are a natural habitat for blackbucks and migratory birds.
The Forest Department’s proposal to develop the area as an eco-tourism hub will also generate income for the locals. A proposal has been sent to the government in this regard and talks are on with revenue and irrigation officials. Nizamabad DFO Dr Sunil S Hiramath said that nearly 3,500 acres of SRSP land are available in the Nizamabad district. After getting nod approval from the Centre and State government, the Forest Department will set the eco-tourism hub and community forest reserve in the district.
