Sangareddy: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Saturday underlined the importance of making appropriate changes to the academic curriculum to suit the needs of the industry. Stating that the world is undergoing a constant transformation industrially, Harish Rao said the syllabus of all the courses must be changed accordingly.

The Minister along with Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy inaugurated the Japan-Indian Institute of Manufacturing (JIM), a skill up-gradation institute, Patancheru.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister lauded the efforts of the Japanese government for setting up JIM in India to improve skills among the unemployed youth in India. Highlighting the technical competence of Japan, the Minister further observed that India cannot produce such trained skilled personnel with the existing education system.

Thanking the Japanese government for setting up JIM in Telangana, Harish Rao said that JIM will train as many as 120 unemployed youths who will be inducted into the Japan-based industries operating in the State. He further stated that the education system in India needs to be upgraded so that the students, who pass out from institutes, get placements.

Stressing the importance of employing local youth in Toshiba after providing training at JIM, Harish Rao suggested the management of Toshiba to collaborate with Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) located in Sangareddy and Patancheru to help the local youth get placements.

The candidates, who were undergoing training, will be given Rs 11,000 per month as an allowance during the one year of the training programme and later, they will be taken on rolls by paying Rs 24,000 per month.

Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy, TTDI chairman and managing director Hiroshi Kaneta, Principal Secretary for Industries Jayesh Ranjan, Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Zaheerabad MP BB Patil, Sangareddy Collector M Hanumantha Rao, Superintendent of Police S Chandrashekar Reddy, MLC V Bhupal Reddy, also attended the meeting.
