EESL to showcase its energy-efficiency and clean energy programmes

EESL will showcase India's experience in energy efficiency and clean-energy programmes during an international study tour in Ravensburg, Germany. The organisation will highlight initiatives across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra, including Telangana's LED street-lighting project covering nearly 5.5 lakh lights

Hyderabad: Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), under the Ministry of Power, is set to showcase India’s experience and success in implementing energy-efficiency and clean-energy programmes across States at a knowledge-exchange programme in Ravensburg, Germany, from September 28 to October 2, 2026.

EESL has been invited by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to participate in the international study tour. It will share its experience in energy efficiency, clean-energy solutions and sustainable development initiatives implemented across States.

EESL will demonstrate the potential of scalable and locally adapted solutions to deliver energy savings, improve public services and support sustainable development.

These include energy-efficient cooking solutions in all Anganwadi centres in Andhra Pradesh, street-lighting initiatives in Telangana and decentralised solar systems in Maharashtra.

In Telangana, EESL has successfully implemented an energy-efficient LED street-lighting project in the GHMC area by replacing nearly 5.5 lakh conventional street lights with energy-efficient LED street lights.

As per EESL records, the project has resulted in substantial energy savings of more than 61 per cent, leading to annual energy savings of 230 million units (MU), a reduction of 0.19 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per annum and an avoided peak demand of 60 MW.
