Efforts on to develop Basar temple: Indrakaran Reddy

Minister Indrakaran Reddy carries silk clothing for goddess Saraswathi temple at the ancient Jnana Saraswathi Devastanam of Basar on Tuesday.
Nirmal: Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy said that efforts were on to develop the ancient Jnana Saraswathi Devastanam of Basar on many fronts and to create better facilities for devotees.
He along with his wife presented silk clothing to the presiding deity of the shrine as part of the annual Vasantha Panchami celebration being held on the premises of the shrine on Tuesday.
Indrakaran Reddy said that a master plan was already prepared for improving basic amenities for the convenience of the devout, spending Rs 50 crore. He said that the development of the shrine was being done in a phased manner. He added that the abode of goddess Saraswathi would become one of the major pilgrim centres of Telangana soon.
The Minister performed special prayers to the deity and found out states of developmental works being taken up at the shrine. He was welcomed by local legislator G Vittal Reddy and priests of the temple. He was presented with a prasadam for visiting the temple and participating in the festivities. Collector Musharraf Ali Faruqui and executive officer Vinod were present.
Meanwhile, around 10,000 devotees belonging to not only Telangana, but neighboring Maharashtra visited the temple in view of the auspicious occasion by forming serpentine queue lines from earliery morning. They, earlier, had a holy dip in Godavari river situated near the temple town.
They broke coconuts and performed prayers as a token of gratitude for the well-being. Some of them performed Aksharabhyasam, initiation into the world of alphabets to their children.
