Sangareddy: Finance Minister T Harish Rao has instructed officials concerned to make all arrangements to start the new medical college and nursing college from the upcoming 2021-22 academic year on the premises of Government Hospital at Sangareddy.

During a review meeting with the officials of various wings of district administration and Health Department at the Collectorate here on Saturday, the Minister said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had announced medical colleges to six districts, including Sangareddy. Since they were working on getting all the mandatory permissions to start the medical and nursing colleges from this academic year, Rao directed the officials to make arrangements to start the college from this academic year. He further said that the new medical college building will be built on the premises of the Government Hospital in Sangareddy where necessary land was available.

Since Sangareddy is already home for several prestigious institutes such as IIT-H, Rao said that the granting of the medical college was another step towards making the district an educational hub.

Asking the officials to identify black fungus cases to start treatment early, the Minister said that the experts have found that abnormal use of Oxygen and steroids are causing the black fungus disease.

He said that there were adequate Oxygen beds, ICU facilities, Remdesivir injections and other facilities available for treatment of the Covid-19 patients in the district. He warned that the government will cancel the recognisation of the hospitals if anyone found violating the Covid-19 treatment guidelines.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson P Manjusri, MP BB Patil, Collector Sangareddy M Hanumantha Rao, MLC V Bhupal Reddy, Additional Collectors, Rajarsi Sha and J Veera Reddy, Covid-19 nodal officer Dr Raju and others were present.
