EFLU hosts HY-SAI ’26 Japanese cultural festival
The English and Foreign Languages University hosted HY-SAI ’26, a two-day Japanese cultural festival organised by the Department of Asian Languages, featuring workshops, performances and culinary experiences, with Vice Chancellors from EFLU and IGNOU highlighting shared cultural values.

Hyderabad: The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), organised HY-SAI ’26, a Japanese cultural festival on its campus here on Friday. Organized by the Department of Asian Languages, the two-day festival celebrated Japan’s rich traditions through workshops, performances, and culinary experiences.
Participating in the event, EFLU Vice Chancellor, Prof. N Nagaraju highlighted the values of punctuality, discipline, and politeness as central to both Japanese culture and academic life. IGNOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Umaa Kanjilal also participated in the event and expressed her interest in extending the festival’s spirit to IGNOU.
The festival featured workshops on origami, sadō (tea ceremony), and kimono dressing, alongside lively Bon Odori dances and cultural performances. The workshops and performances together created an atmosphere that was both educational and celebratory, immersing attendees in the elegance and spirit of Japanese culture.
