A first-person shooter that is played in a browser is a rarity and one that offers multiplayer features even rarer.
Shell Shockers is the proverbial genie in a bottle, a game so well made that it has no purpose being a browser game. Designed by Blue Wizard Digital, a Canadian firm that specialises in casual multiplayer games, Shell Shockers is a game where players play as eggs that hunt other eggs.
With a variety of guns in your arsenal ranging from shotguns, to assault rifles and from grenade launchers to snipers, this game almost offers the complete online FPS experience to crack eggs.
With a host of maps and some very basic controls Shell Shockers’ strength lies in its ability to offer a variety of maps with a plethora of landscapes. Most of these maps are quite well balanced and players can play as either snipers or run and gun experts. However, there are a few maps that favour the snipers a bit too much.
The challenge for players is to find maps that are balanced lest the game becomes a sniper fest.
Similarly, the ping is a major issue as the game has very few servers. If you play from India, you connect to the Singapore server and the connection is, at times, less than ideal. Some maps are less spread out but have multiple floors in them and we have struggled with these when there are connectivity issues. However, for a fun experience Shell Shockers is nearly perfect.
This game is too good looking for a game in a browser and the controls are nearly flawless. The ads can get a bit annoying but the experience of playing with your friends is worth enduring them.
If you can set up a group-call on Discord, WhatsApp or even Google Meet this game can almost simulate the experience of a LAN lobby. Give it a try if FPS games are your thing and you are tired of playing games like Suspects, Uno, Ludo King or Pictionary.
It is one of the best ways to enjoy a LAN party from the safety of your home.
