Eight-year-old student dies of snakebite at Narayanpet government school
An eight-year-old Class III student died after a snake bit him at a government school in Eklaspur, Narayanpet district. The incident occurred during school hours, with conflicting claims over where the snakebite happened. The student later died at the District Hospital.
Narayanpet: An eight-year-old Class III student died after being bitten by a snake at his government school in Eklaspur here on Thursday afternoon. There were about 15 students in the classroom when the incident occurred.
Ranjith, a student of the Upper Primary Government School, was bitten by the snake at around 3 pm. He was rushed to the District Hospital by the school staff but died while undergoing treatment.
It remains unclear how the snake entered the classroom in the single-storey school building. While officials claimed that Ranjith was bitten after he placed his hand outside a classroom window, local residents maintained that the snake bit him inside the classroom.
The school is located next to a hillock. After learning about the incident, local residents rushed to the school and killed the snake. They also complained about the wild vegetation inside the school premises. Ranjith was the second son of Gundappa and Sangeetha, residents of Eklaspur. His siblings are studying in Classes V and II in the same school.
Former MLA C Rammohan Reddy visited the hospital and consoled the parents. He assured all support to the family.
