Hyderabad: Elaborate arrangements have been made by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for smooth conduct of Goddess Durga idol immersion in the water bodies in the city. 

As a part of the exercise, the civic body deployed its men and machinery apart from arranging 90 cranes near artificial ponds, Hussain Sagar lake and other water bodies. The civid body also deployed sanitation and entomology staffers who worked in shifts. On Saturday, the immersion was underway and staffers were seen helping pandal organisers with the immersion process near NTR Marg.

Vehicles were arranged to transport the debris from the water bodies to Jawahar Nagar dump yard and the GHMC officials said that after rains recede, fogging and anti-larval operations will also be taken up at locations where idols have been immersed.
