Elderly man jailed for sexually assaulting minor girl

Hyderabad: A special court for child offences has sentenced a 70-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl.
The XII Additional Sessions Judge for POCSO cases convicted Mohd Zameeruddin, a resident of Gulshan Iqbal Colony, apart from imposing a fine of Rs 5,000, with an additional six months of simple imprisonment in default of payment.
The case dates back to May 2023, when Zameeruddin lured a minor girl into his stationery shop and sexually assaulted her.
Following a complaint by the victim’s family, Santoshnagar Police investigated the case and filed charges, leading to the conviction.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar appreciated the investigating officers, prosecutors and support staff for securing the conviction in the case.
