Adilabad: An elderly woman was killed and four others sustained minor injuries when a car in which they were travelling, plunged into a stream from a bridge at Nagapur village in Utnoor mandal of Adilabad district on Monday midnight.
Utnoor Sub-Inspector P Subbarao said that the deceased was identified as Panchapula (65), a native of Pardi in Kinwat district of Maharashtra. The injured were Sandhya, Sharada, Savitribai and Vaibhav, all belonging to Indervelli mandal.
Panchapula received fatal injuries when the car fell off the bridge into the stream at around 11.30 pm. She died while being treated in a hospital. She along with the four others were returning after attending her nephew’s wedding at Wankidi in Kumram Bheem Asifabad at the time of the mishap. Rash and negligence by the driver Sugreev caused the mishap.
Shivashankar, the son of the victim, lodged a complaint with police. A case was registered against Sugreev and investigation has been taken up.
