Hyderabad: Here is some good news for the employees in the State government. The Election Commission of India (ECI) gave its nod to the State government for announcing the fitment and other benefits under the Pay Revision Commission (PRC). The State government is likely to make an announcement in this regard in the State Assembly in the next couple of days, as promised by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Through the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana State, the Finance department had recently written to the ECI seeking permission for announcing the PRC benefits in the wake of byelections announced to the Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency on April 17. The ECI responded positively to the request and ECI secretary Avinash Kumar stated that the Election Commission has no objection to announce the acceptance of the PRC report with respect to the Model Code of Conduct in force in the State ahead of the Nagarjuna Sagar bypolls. However, the ECI made it clear that no undue publicity in this regard should be done for attaining political mileage especially in the district where the election was underway.
With ECI’s approval, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is likely to announce the recommendations of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) for government employees in the next couple of days in the State Assembly. It may be recalled that he assured that the PRC implementation will meet the expectations of the employees and in fact, they will feel proud to be among the highest-paid in the country.
The implementation of the latest PRC was delayed due to the Covid-19 crisis which had dented the State revenues severely by about Rs 52,000 crore in terms of direct revenue and another Rs 50,000 crore indirectly. He also assured to address other concerns of the employees.
