Retail sales of electric commercial vehicles rose over two-fold at 2,245 units last month from 902 units in April 2025,
New Delhi: Electric passenger vehicle sales in India grew by 75.14 per cent at 23,506 units in April 2026 as compared to 13,421 units in the same month last year, Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations said on Wednesday.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd led the market with 8,543 units in April as compared to 4,822 units in the same month last year, at a growth of 77.17 per cent, as per Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) data.
Homegrown rival Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd came second with 5,413 units, up 63.98 per cent from 3,301 units in April last year, followed by JSW MG Motor India with 5,006 units as against 3,777 units in the same month last year, a growth of 32.54 per cent.
In the electric two-wheeler segment, FADA said total sales were at 1,48,740 units last month as compared to 92,538 units in April last year, up 60.73 per cent.
TVS Motor Company was the segment leader with 37,683 units last month as compared to 19,976 units in April 2025, up 88.64 per cent.
Bajaj Auto Ltd came second with 32,898 units as against 19,162 units in April last year, a growth of 71.68 per cent. Ather Energy was in third with 27,034 units as compared to 13,332 units in the year-ago month, up 102.78 per cent.
FADA said electric three-wheeler sales were at 64,549 units last month as compared to 62,489 units in April 2025, a growth of 3.3 per cent.
