Hyderabad: A new Energy Park is coming up at Divitipally in Mahbubnagar. This will promote lithium ion cell and battery manufacturing, solar cell and module assembly and other new and renewable energy related manufacturing, said Industries Minister KT Rama Rao.
Releasing annual reports of Industries and IT departments, he said Telangana had attracted Rs 4,000 crore worth of investments in the last one year in electronics, electric vehicles, energy storage systems and new energy space, which are in various stages of implementation.
These are expected to generate an employment to about 15,000 people, he said.
To make Telangana the hub for electric vehicles and energy storage systems, the electric vehicle and energy storage policy 2020-2030 was launched. Two new industrial clusters are designated as Electric Vehicle Cluster and New Energy Park to promote electric vehicle and energy storage systems manufacturing.
Chandanvelly, on the city outskirts, has been designated as EV cluster and will cater to EV and related component manufacturing, the minister said.
Investment MoUs have been signed with Mytrah Energy, Olectra, ETO Motors, Pure EV, Gayam Motors, Etrio and ARAI in the EV segment.
Pharma and life science
Rao said one of the first RT-PCR kits approved by ICME was developed in India from Hyderabad. First indigenously developed vaccine for Covid-19 is the result of efforts of Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech.
Genome Valley, the largest R and D cluster in India, is gaining traction as the ‘vaccine capital of the world’. Four out of the five leading vaccine manufacturers in India are already in Genome Valley. Biopharma Hub (B-Hub) is a flagship initiative for Genome Valley wherein the State is partnering with Cytiva to strengthen the biopharma industry in the State by setting up a Biopharma scale up facility, the Minister said.
Medtronics is expanding their current R and D centre with an investment of Rs 1,200 crore and Sai Lifesciences has commissioned a new research and development facility in Genome Valley spread across 83,000 sqft.
In the aerospace segment, key players Boeing and Safran have announced new manufacturing lines in Hyderabad.
