Elevated corridors: Ministry of Defence approves MoU with HMDA for defence land transfer

Hyderabad: The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Tuesday gave its nod to the MoU inked between the HMDA and the local Defence authority of Telangana, to transfer the defence land to build two elevated corridors.
Vikram Verma, Deputy Director (Lands), Ministry of Defence, issued orders regarding the transfer of defence land to HMDA on transfer of equal value of land (EVL) and payment of cash compensation.
According to the order, 4,59,222 sq metres of defence land is to be transferred to HMDA to build an elevated corridor between Gymkhana Ground to Hakimpet Air Force Station (Shamirpet ORR) on State Highway-1, based on equal value land and the creation of ‘equal value of infrastructure’ (EVI).
The orders stated that an amount of Rs 867.64 crore has been assessed by the Defence Estates Officer (DEO), Telangana, as per ‘Standard Table of Rents’ (STR)-2023. Another Rs 954.41 crore is also estimated to be the value of defence land, along with a 10% annual escalation.
Simultaneously, for the elevated corridor proposed between Paradise Circle and Suchitra Junction (Dairy Farm) on National Highway – 44, the total of 2,26,039.91 sq metres of defence land will be transferred to the HMDA on EVL and payment of cash compensation, amounting to Rs 748.58 crore.
