Khammam: Protection of child rights and encouraging them to excel in their lives was a must to create a modern India, asserted District Collector RV Karnan on Saturday.
He said the district administration has been making continuous efforts in protecting child rights and preventing atrocities against the children. Steps have been taken to strengthen all government systems engaged in safeguarding the child rights, he stated.
The Collector was addressing a meeting organised by the Society for Community Participation and Education in Rural Development (SCOPE-RD), Girls Alliance Advocacy (GAA) and the Childline, at the collectorate marking the Child Rights Week on Saturday.
Childline Director and the District Child Welfare Committee Chairman ML Prasad stated that it was the duty of every person in the society to contribute towards creation of a safe, free and stress-free world for the children.
The Collector and the guests have given away prizes to the winners of competitions organised marking the Child Rights Week. Three children G Hasini, M Vamshi and K Varsha who were selected as ‘Child Champions-2020’ were felicitated.
Additional Collector Aditya Krishna, RPF CI, K Madhusudhan, Childline coordinator K Srinivas and others were present.
