Hyderabad: Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma has long been touted as a rare talent, and perhaps rightly so. However, given his lean patch in recent times, he has lost some backing from fans, with many urging the T20 World Cup-winning captain to call it a day.
If reports are to be believed, it may be curtains for Rohit Sharma’s Test career, as the selectors are unlikely to consider him for the format anymore.
Jasprit Bumrah, who is the designated vice-captain of the team, will likely take over from Rohit soon, possibly leading the team during the tour of England in June-July.
It is also being speculated that Bumrah not being risked for the Champions Trophy 2025 indicates he is being considered as the future Test captain.
Bumrah has led the team in three Tests so far in Rohit’s absence. While the team lost on two occasions, they secured a solitary victory against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
