Energy Secretary asks power utilities to gear up for summer power demand in Telangana

Hyderabad: With the State power demand expected to increase considerably during the upcoming summer, Energy Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania directed top officials of State run power utilities to take strong measures to ensure that there was no disruption in the power during the summer season.
Sultania, who held a review meeting on Saturday, directed the Chairman and Managing director of TGGENCO, TRANSCO , SPDCL and NPDCL to take measures to ensure that there was no shortage of power during the ensuing summer. The officials were directed to complete the work undertaken as part of the summer action plan by January 31 at any costs.
There was an increase of power demand by 15 percent during the summer this year and it was expected to increase during the ensuing summer, hence, there was a need to take steps to increase the capacity of transformers in Extra High Tension (EHT) and 33/11 kV substations by summer and to install new transformers in the required areas, he said.
The CMDs said the capacity of TRANSCO EHT substations was being increased in RC Puram and Bowrampet areas and that steps had been taken to make the Jadcharla and Narayanpur 132 kV circuits, which were under construction, available soon. They stated that the repair work undertaken as part of the Summer Action Plan under SPDCL and NPDCL was being carried out at a fast pace.
