Sangareddy: Finance Minister T Harish Rao has instructed Sangareddy district officials to enforce additional hours of lockdown in towns and villages where the infection rate was relatively high on the lines of Seven Assembly constituencies where the State government has decided to stick to the old relaxation of 6am to 2pm.

The Minister, participating in a review meeting with elected representatives and officials on Covid-19 in Sangareddy on Wednesday, said the positivity rate has come down from 15.15 per cent in May first week to 3.99 per cent in June first week in Sangareddy district which indicates that Covid-19 cases had declined sharply.

While going through the number of cases reported in various towns and villages across Sangareddy, the Minister has suggested the official to enforce additional hours lockdown in Jogipet, Munipally, Patancheru and at a few other places.

Asking the health department officials and district administration to observe the Covid-19 spread rate closely every day, the Minister directed them to share the statistics with the Police every evening so that the Police will enforce the lockdown strictly or for additional hours. DM&HO (District Medical and Health Officer) Dr Gayathri Devi said that there were just 80 active cases in government hospitals in the district.

MPs BB Patil, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairperson P Manjusri, Collector M Hanumantha Rao, SP S Chandrashekar Reddy, MLAs Mahreddy Bhupal Reddy, Chanti Kranthi Kiran, K Manik Rao and others were present.
