Hyderabad: A 27-year-old engineer committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in a hostel room in APHB Colony of Gachibowli here on Tuesday.
The deceased, K Venkat Rao, a site engineer for irrigation projects and a native of East Godavari in Andhra Pradesh, was staying in a men’s hostel for the last one month. Police said Rao had sent a message on WhatsApp to his family members saying he was ending his life. When they called on his number, there was no response, after which they alerted his friend Naga Babu. He rushed to the spot and knocked on the door.
As there was no response, Naga Babu with the help of the hostel staff forcibly opened the door and found Rao hanging from the ceiling fan. Based on a complaint from Rao’s family, the Gachibowli police have booked a case and are investigating. Officials said no suicide note was found.
