Engineering student dies by suicide in Medipally; harassment by seniors suspected
Jadhav Sai Teja, a 19-year-old BTech student, died by suicide at a private hostel in Medipally after allegedly being harassed by senior students, forced to consume alcohol, and assaulted. Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
Hyderabad: A 19-year-old engineering student, who allegedly was forced to consume liquor by his seniors, died by suicide at a private hostel in Medipally on Sunday night.
The victim , identified as Jadhav Sai Teja, a second-year BTech student at Siddhartha Institute of Technology, Narapally, was found hanging in his room at Madhu Boys Hostel. He was a native of Utnoor in Adilabad district.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Teja was allegedly harassed by senior students who forced him to consume alcohol and accompanied him to a bar. The group reportedly generated a bill of Rs 10,000 and insisted that Teja pay for it.
Police said he was also assaulted by the seniors and some local youths.
Unable to cope with the humiliation, Teja recorded a video message to his father before ending his life.
His death has sparked shock and anger among fellow students, family members.
The Medipally police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify those responsible for the harassment.
