Hyderabad: For most students, an internship is the first opportunity they get to use their knowledge in the practical world. However, not many have the right resources or guidance to get the internship of their choice. Sensing a problem in this segment and also learning from his personal experience, Hyderabad lad Tharun Kumar Vulli started Sixinterns about a year ago. And in the last one year, the startup has been able to help 8,000 students secure internships other than helping gig workers get jobs in on-demand platforms.
“While in my third year of engineering in Lovely Professional University (LPU), I tried to get an internship in many companies but was unsuccessful. That is how I became aware of the gaps in the industry and wanted to help students secure internships of their choice. Our company not only helps students and gig workers get connected with companies for internship opportunities but also helps in brushing up their technical as well as soft skills like communication skills. This training is provided by our in-house employees who are graduates from IIT and NITs,” said Vulli, who is in his last year of engineering.
Not just engineering graduates, the startup also offers internship opportunities in finance, marketing, sales and audit, among other sectors. It has worked with corporates like Ola, Rapido, Zomato and many more. The start-up provides free training to the interns on a case-to-case basis and prepares them in advance to perform well during internships. Many of their interns performed exceedingly well leading them to receive pre placement offers from companies. The startup has helped over 300+ students’ bodies from prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs and many reputed colleges and universities in India in finding top quality internships.
“We have collaborated with 15 multi-national companies and corporates and provided training to over 10,000 students. Post completion of my engineering, I plan to expand our operations and have already set up a small team in Hyderabad – who are currently working from home. We plan to collaborate with more corporate and enterprises and provide internship and placement opportunities to students and gig workers,” he said.
