Engineers must take inspiration from Nawab Ali Nawaz Jung: Harish Rao
BRS MLA T Harish Rao paid tribute to engineer Nawab Ali Nawaz Jung Bahadur, crediting him for shaping Telangana’s irrigation system. He recalled the revival of Nizam Sagar under the BRS government and urged engineers to follow his legacy.

Hyderabad: BRS leader and MLA T Harish Rao paid tribute to pioneering engineer Nawab Ali Nawaz Jung Bahadur on his birth anniversary.
In a statement on Friday, Rao described Nawab Ali Nawaz Jung as a key figure in Telangana’s irrigation history, on par with Sir Arthur Cotton, K.L. Rao, and Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
He noted that the Nizam Sagar project, built by Nawab Ali Nawaz Jung, was revived under the BRS government by diverting water from the Kaleshwaram project. He also recalled that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had declared Nawab Ali Nawaz Jung’s birthday as Telangana Engineers’ Day to honour his contributions.
Rao praised the role of engineers in Telangana’s development and called on them to draw inspiration from Nawab Ali Nawaz Jung to further contribute to nation-building.
