Engineers playing crucial role in rebuilding Telangana: Vinod Kumar

TSPB vice-chairman participated as chief guest at the eighth Telangana Engineers Day organised to commemorate the 144th birth anniversary of Nawab Ali Nawaz Jung Bahadur

Hyderabad: Telangana State Planning Board vice-chairman B Vinod Kumar on Sunday said Telangana emerged as the rice bowl of the country due to the efforts of engineers from Irrigation and Energy departments.

Participating as a chief guest at the eighth Telangana Engineers Day organised to commemorate the 144th birth anniversary of Nawab Ali Nawaz Jung Bahadur here, he said the engineers from the State played a key role in the Statehood movement. “The engineers are now playing a crucial role in rebuilding of the State,” he said.

He attributed the successful completion of Mission Bhagiratha scheme to the engineers. He said Telangana was moving in a progressive path because of the sustained efforts made by the engineers.

Vinod Kumar said proper recognition was not given to Ali Nawaz Jung’s contributions in undivided Andhra Pradesh. But after separate State for Telangana was formed, the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao declared the birthday of Ali Nawaz Jung as Telangana Engineers Day.

Telangana Water Resources Development Corporation Chairman V Prakash said Ali Nawaz Jung has constructed Nizam Sagar, Pocharam and other irrigation projects along with other historical buildings in the city.

Chief Minister’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD, Irrigation) Sridhar Rao Deshpande explained in detail the life history of Ali Nawaz Jung. As many as 300 people took part in the programme organised in virtual mode.

Later, Ali Nawaz Jung memorial lifetime achievement awards-2021 were presented to three engineers for extending their outstanding services.
