The State government in June last year had fixed rates to be charged by the private hospitals
Hyderabad: Telangana Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (THANA) on Thursday urged the State government to enhance the tariffs for treating Covid-19 patients.
The management of private hospitals and nursing homes have written a letter to Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday urging his intervention to reassess the treatment costs of Covid positive cases in private hospitals.
The State government in June last year had fixed rates to be charged by the private hospitals. According to the last year’s price capping, corporate hospitals should charge Rs 4,000 per day for isolation facilities from mild Covid-19 positive patients, Rs.7,500 per day from patients who need Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facilities but not ventilator support, and Rs. 9,000 per day from critical Covid-19 positive patients who need both ICU and ventilator support.
The THANA members, however, pointed out that the management costs of Covid positive patients have become extremely high due to the several reasons. Ever since the Covid pandemic, the salaries of staff including doctors, nurses, sanitation and ancillary staff, pharmacists and lab technicians have increased more than double. “Costs have increased in every facet of healthcare management and administration of private hospitals across Telangana,” THANA members said.
