Hyderabad: The Telangana State Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSMSIDC) has procured enough stock of drugs and consumables that would last for months, in the event of a new surge of Covid infections driven by the Omicron variant in government hospitals.
As part of efforts to stock up and avoid struggling with procurement and logistical constrains in the last minute, the TSMSIDC has so far managed to procure 41.93 lakh N95 masks and 8.62 lakh PPE kits, a health bulletin on Sunday said.
The drugs and consumables will be particularly vital for healthcare workers at the government hospitals who come in direct contact with Covid positive patients. The TSMSIDC has also procured 1.5 crore 3-ply masks, 3.03 lakh RT-PCR kits and about 25.40 lakh Rapid Antigen Test Kits for spot testing of suspected Covid infections.
The health authorities also have stock of 8.71 lakh home treatment kits, 2.41 lakh tablets of Remdesivir, 51.40 lakh tablets of Methylprednisolone (8mg) and 56.17 lakh tablets of Methylprednisolone (16mg).
The procurement agency for health department also has a stock of 6.44 crore doses of Paracetamol, 2.64 crore doses of Levocetrizine (an antihistamine for allergic rhinitis), 2.56 crore of Dexamethasone (0.5mg) and 1.31 crore doses of Azithromycin (500 mg) tablets.
