Ensure Siddipet stays in forefront in oil palm cultivation: Harish Rao

Finance Minister T Harish Rao at a meeting with officials and elected representatives at Siddipet Urban Development Office here on Wednesday. Pointing out that Siddipet district was permitted to take up Oil Palm in 50,000 acres, Harish Rao said they had plans in place to take up cultivation of Oil Palm in 5,000 acres this year

Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao has instructed the officials of agriculture, horticulture and sericulture department to meet the targets set for palm oil cultivation, dry seeding of paddy and Mulberry cultivation, among others. He also urged the officials and elected representatives to ensure that Siddipet Assembly constituency stays in the forefront in oil palm cultivation.

Pointing out that Siddipet district was permitted to take up Oil Palm in 50,000 acres, Harish Rao said they had plans in place to take up cultivation of Oil Palm in 5,000 acres this year.

Asking the local public representatives to encourage the farmers to cultivate crops which the State government suggests, the Minister said they will complete the plantation of Oil Palm in June and July.

Addressing a meeting with officials and elected representatives at Siddipet Urban Development Office here on Wednesday, Harish Rao said they had planted Oil Palm in 36 acres in Chandalapur Cluster out of 200 acres target. Stating that they will complete the plantation in 64 acres by the end of June, Rao said that the officials will complete the plantation in 100 more acres in July.

He has asked the Agriculture Officers to aim to make at least 10 farmers under their purview to take up Mulberry Cultivation in Siddipet.
