Jangaon: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao has directed the officials to speed up the paddy purchase process and complete the purchasing in 10 days. He also asked them to take stringent action against rice millers who are not cooperating with the officials.
Addressing a review meeting here on Friday, he said the State government had borrowed Rs 30,000 crore to purchase the grain to help the farmers in these difficult times. “As there is a prediction that the monsoon rains lash the state in advance than the normal arrival, the officials must take steps to provide seeds and fertiliser for the farmers for the Vaankalam season cultivation,” he added.
Rao also asked the officials to take steps to provide irrigation for the second crop in the district. Responding to this, District Collector K Nikhila said that they were taking all steps to transport the paddy to the rice mills in the district. MLAs Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy, Thatikonda Rajaiah, district officials attended the meeting.
