Erstwhile Adilabad sees 2,730 nominations for second phase panchayat polls
Erstwhile Adilabad recorded 2,730 nominations for 514 gram panchayats in the second phase of polls. Districts including Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal and Kumram Bheem Asifabad saw large filings. Polling is on December 14 and counting will be held the same day
Adilabad: Erstwhile Adilabad saw 2,730 nominations to 514 gram panchayats notified for polls under the second phase on Wednesday.
Officials said that 846 nominations were filed from 156 panchayats in Adilabad district, while 573 nominations were received for 114 panchayats in Mancherial district. As many as 574 nominations were filed for 131 panchayats in Nirmal district and 737 nominations were submitted for 113 panchayats in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district.
Similarly, 1,260 wards of Adilabad registered 2,620 nominations, while 2,290 nominations were submitted from 996 wards in Mancherial district. A total of 2,254 nominations were filed for 1,165 wards in Nirmal district and Kumram Bheem Asifabad recorded 2,428 nominations for 992 wards.
The last date for appealing is Thursday. Candidates are allowed to withdraw nominations on December 6. The panchayats for the second phase will see polls on December 14. Counting of the votes will be taken up the same day.
As many as 2,593 nominations were received for the post of sarpanches in 506 gram panchayats that were notified to undergo polls in the first phase in the erstwhile Adilabad district.
