Warangal:  Warangal West MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar said on Friday that the rights of children should be protected and called upon the people to strive to offer a joyful childhood to every child in society.

The State government under the people-friendly Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has been striving to protect the rights of children by setting up the Child Welfare Committees (CWC) in all the newly formed districts of the State besides setting up a Commission for the Protection of the Rights of the Child at the State-level. The Government Chief Whip formally inaugurated the ‘Bala Rakshak’ vehicle and handed it over to the Women and Child Welfare Department by the Yashoda Foundation following a call by MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao.

“We are happy that the Yashoda Foundation has come forward to donate the vehicle for the benefit of the children in distress. This Bala Rakshak vehicle is useful for shifting the children in distress, and provides immediate rehabilitation of vulnerable children,” he said and stressed the need to do more to eradicate child marriages and child labour.

Child Welfare Committee, Hanamkonda district, chairman Annamaneni Anilchander Rao said that they were committed to working for the protection of child rights and added that more rehabilitation measures would be taken in coordination with all the departments and non-profit organisations.

District Welfare Officer in charge K Madhurima said the committees would be set up from the village level to the district level, and they are ready to provide more services in the future for the children.

District Child Protection Officer P Santosh Kumar said that 1098 should be called for immediate rehabilitation of children in danger or distress. “The officials of the Child Protection Department, ChildLine and Coordinating Departments are available to provide them with rehabilitation and other help,” he added. Child Welfare Committee members Dr P Sudhakar, P Hymawati, S Rajendra Prasad, NCLP Director Burra Ashok Goud, Child Rights Protection Officers S Praveen Kumar, A Satish Kumar, Child Line Coordinator MD Iqbal Pasha, and other officials participated in the programme.
