EVMs, VVPATs of Dubbak by-poll shifted to strong room

Commissioner of Police D Joel Davis said they had secured the college with a three layer security till counting is taken up on November 10.

Siddipet: The EVMS and VVPATs which were used in Dubbak by-poll were shifted to Indur Engineering College at Ponnala near Siddipet town where they will be kept in a strong room with a three-layer security ring.

The EVMs and VVPATS kept coming in till late in the night on Tuesday at EVM Distribution and Reception Centre at Latchpet near Dubbak town. The election ended at 6 pm on Tuesday.


While the election observers, Siddipet District Collector Bharathi Hollikeri and Commissioner of Police D Joel Davis were monitoring every movement, the EVMs and VVPATs were shifted to Indur College in the early hours of Wednesday. The contesting candidates and representatives of candidates were also present when the EVMs and VVPATS were received, shifted and stored in the strong room. The entire process was carried out without any issue.

Joel Davis said they had secured the college with a three layer security till counting is taken up on November 10.

Stating that there were 100 personnel deployed to guard the strong room till the counting day, Davis said that the three layer security comprised Central Armed Forces, State Reserve Police Force and Civil Police.

Election General Observer Shayamla Iqbal, Returning Officer Dubbak by-poll Chennaiah, Police Nodal Officer Balaji and others were present.
