Hyderabad: Former BRS MLA Balka Suman was released from Chanchalguda Central Prison on Thursday, a day after the High Court granted him conditional bail in a case related to his alleged remarks on Singareni Coal establishments. He spent nearly 25 days in judicial custody.

Suman had been lodged in jail since his arrest on May 29 following a case registered over comments he made at a meeting of Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS) held at Telangana Bhavan on May 26.

The case was filed based on a complaint alleging that his remarks were inflammatory and targeted Singareni properties. The Telangana High Court granted him conditional bail on Wednesday.

After completing bail formalities, Suman walked out of prison to a rousing reception from BRS leaders and supporters, along with the party student wing BRSV leaders. Party activists greeted him with garlands and accompanied him in a convoy to Telangana Bhavan, where senior BRS leaders welcomed him. Supporters also performed a traditional Harathi before receiving him at the party headquarters.

Addressing the party cadre after his release, Suman said the Congress government was targeting BRS leaders through false cases. He stated that arrests and criminal cases were not new to him. He recalled that around 226 cases were filed against him during the Telangana statehood movement.

He accused the Congress government of presiding over widespread corruption and compromising on Telangana’s interests. He also challenged Congress legislators from the Singareni coal belt to resign and seek a fresh mandate if they were confident about the government’s handling of issues concerning the mining company.
