Hyderabad: India’s victory in the fourth Test in Brisbane on Tuesday took the cricketing world by storm. Considered the fortress of Australia, The Gabba has been breached by a young Indian side. The team, without the likes of experienced players, recorded a three-wicket victory to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after Rishabh Pant’s heroics on the final day.
Many cricketers took to Twitter hailing Team India’s performance. Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar lauded Rishabh Pant and said the youngsters like T Natarajan, Shardul Thakur, Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar and Cheteshwar Pujara laid the foundation for the win. “Pant took India home brilliantly! What a Star! But let’s not forget, the road to the win was constructed by Nats, Siraj, Shardul, Gill, Pujara and Washington. Hats off a million times! #AusvsIndtest,” he wrote.
Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar took lauded the Indian team. “From 36 all out in the same series to winning it on Australia soil. Wow. #IndiavsAustralia #BorderGavaskarTrophy,” he wrote.
Afghanistan star cricketer Rashid Khan, who plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, wrote, “What a test series it was many congratulations to the team India what an innings by @Rishabhpant17 top class bhai. @BCCI @Ajinkyarahane88 @Ravishastriofc,” he wrote.
