Hyderabad: Former Minister S Niranjan Reddy came down heavily on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, calling his recent comments in Delhi a display of ignorance. He said Revanth Reddy’s rhetoric was misleading and lacked substance.
In a statement, Niranjan Reddy said the Supreme Court had capped reservations at 50 per cent, not former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao as Revanth Reddy claimed. He also pointed out that the reservations under Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) were implemented through a constitutional amendment.
“Revanth Reddy is mixing up facts and making a mockery of serious issues,” he said.
The former minister ridiculed Revanth Reddy’s claim that he would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi to push for BC reservations. He pointed out that Revanth Reddy had not been able to secure an appointment with Rahul Gandhi for the last 14 months.
He also questioned whether the Congress party would support Revanth Reddy’s proposal to nominate BJP veteran Bandaru Dattatreya as the Vice President. He reminded that despite 49 trips to Delhi, Revanth Reddy had failed to convince the Centre to sanction a single rupee to the State.
