Adilabad: Collector Sikta Patnaik instructed officials concerned to expedite the process of acquisition of land required for construction of inter-State Chanaka-Korata irrigation project. She convened a review meeting with officials of irrigation, revenue and public representatives over land acquisition and compensation to displaced families and other topics here on Saturday.
Sikta directed the authorities of the revenue department to take steps to acquire land as requested by the officials of the irrigation department. She told them to conduct meetings for every fortnight to speed up the process of acquisition. She added that challenges would be discussed during the meetings and steps were going to be taken to address the hurdles.
Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna, who was present at the meeting, stated that notification was issued for acquiring 1,265 acres out of the total requirement of 1,701 acres. He said that 706 acres of land was yet to be declared, while steps should be taken to procure 79 acres of land. Compensation should be given to 50 farmers.
Joint Collector N Nataraj, Adilabad Revenue Divisional Officer Rajeshwar, Irrigation department Engineer-in-chief G Srinivas Reddy, Superintending Engineer P Ramu, Executive Engineer Ravinder and many other officials were present.
