Experiment turns tragic: 10-year-old injured in battery explosion

A 10-year-old boy from Medak, Telangana, suffered severe injuries after attempting to recharge a drained DC battery with AC current at home. The battery exploded in his hand, causing the loss of three fingers.

Medak: Lack of awareness about the usage of a DC battery led to its explosion. The victim, Shiva Teja (10), son of Rajapet Sathaiah, bought the 9V battery from a local stationery shop to conduct some experiments at home.

When it was drained after excessive usage, he tried to recharge it with AC current at home and it exploded in his left hand. Teja lost three fingers in the incident. The incident left the family in a shock. He was rushed to a local hospital where he is being treated.
