Siddipet: Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao on Friday said the agitating farmers forced the Centre to repeal the farm laws. Speaking to the media after examining the paddy procurement at Chinna Kidur, Pedda Kodur and Ramunipalta villages in Siddipet district, the Minister said the farming in India would have gone under the corporate companies had the acts been implemented.
Stating that the TRS government had always given priority to farmers’ welfare, Rao said that even Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao staged dharna seeking clarity from the Centre on paddy procurement. Harish said that the Union government is showing discrimination against Telangana over paddy procurement. “When the Centre can buy more paddy from Punjab, why can’t it procure from Telangana?” he asked. Terming the Centre’s decision not to buy parboiled rice from Telangana as cruel, Rao demanded the Union government to export the rice to African countries where rice is in good demand.
