Chennai: The makers of director Sudeesh Shankar’s eagerly awaited travel thriller Maareesan, featuring Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu in the lead, have now released the second single from the film titled Maareesa.
The song, which has been set to tune by Yuvan Shankar Raja and also sung by him, has lyrics by Sabarivasan Shanmugam. Maareesa, a light-hearted number on how to handle life, features animation of the lead characters as its visuals.
The film has triggered huge expectations, as this is the second collaboration between Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu, both highly rated for their acting skills. Their first film together was Mari Selvaraj’s socio-political drama Maamanan, which was not only a superhit but also critically acclaimed.
Another reason Maareesan has raised expectations—not just among fans and film buffs but also industry insiders—is that it will be the 98th film of Super Good Films, a production house known for producing several quality films and for introducing several iconic directors in the Tamil film industry.
A trailer of the film released recently has further increased fan excitement. The trailer reveals that Fahadh Faasil plays a thief looking for his next victim. He notices Vadivelu, an Alzheimer’s patient, withdrawing a large sum of cash. Vadivelu, aware of his fading memory, decides to travel to a friend’s place in Thiruvannamalai. Fahadh, seeing an opportunity to steal the money, offers to drop him there on his motorcycle. As the journey progresses, things take unexpected turns. The film explores what happens next.
Apart from Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu, the film also features a host of actors including Vivek Prasanna, Renuka, and Sithara.
V Krishnamurthi has not only penned the story, screenplay, and dialogues but has also served as the film’s creative director.
Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Kalaiselvan Sivaji, editing by Sreejith Sarang, and art direction by Mahendran. The film is scheduled to hit screens on July 25 this year.
