Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Central Crime Station officials nabbed a man from Andhra Pradesh in connection with a Rs 1.2 crore cheating case.

The suspect, identified as K R Venkat Raju alias DSP Raju (40) of Rayachoti in Annamayya district in Andhra Pradesh, had cheated a businessman to the tune of Rs 1.2 crore by posing as a senior police officer and promising huge returns on investments in companies, which later turned out to be fake.

Police said Raju and his associates allegedly offered property documents and postdated cheques to gain trust of their targets and later threatened them when repayments were sought.

Raju had been absconding since 2021 and is also accused in three other cheating and forgery cases in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
