Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat on Monday issued orders under the Preventive Detention Act against P Sai Kumar, a fake doctor who was arrested on charges of illegally treating people, resulting in the death of two patients.

Though he had studied only up to Intermediate, Sai Kumar (35), who belongs to Meerpet, posed as a doctor and ran a clinic on his name for eight years in Meerpet and treated people. He also worked in private hospitals and treated patients.

Last year, he treated Covid patients at a private hospital in LB Nagar and caused the death of two of patients who approached him, police said. In this connection, cases were booked and he was arrested in December and remanded in judicial custody at the Central Prison in Cherlapally.
